The Korea Electronics Show 2006 (KES 2006), hosted by the
Korea Electronics Association (Chairman: Yun Jong-Yong,
www.gokea.org), will open at KINTEX in Goyang on Oct. 17
under the slogan of "Innovative Digital Solution!¡È The
opening ceremony is slated to be attended by about 500
dignitaries, including Minister of Commerce, Industry &
Energy Chung Sye-Kyun, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-Soo
and KEA Chairman Yun.
KES is Korea's leading electronics-IT exhibition, which this
year is holding its 37th show in its history. More than 600
participating companies from 16 nations will display their
leading-edge IT products during the KES 2006. The venue,
covering a space of 32,157sq. meters, comprises the Digital
Information Home Electronic Appliances Hall, the
Information- Communication Hall, the Industrial Equipment
Hall, the Electronic Parts Hall and the national pavilions
for China and Taiwan.
Key features of the ¡ºKES 2006¡»include the following:
First, the show is ¡ºAsia's leading global IT
exhibition¡»participated in by some 600 companies from 16
countries, including Korea, the U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan
and Hong Kong. Among the participants are such
world-renowned companies as Samsung Electronics, LG
Electronics, Philips, HP, Sharp, Haier and BenQ. In
addition, the show will be visited by VIPs in the
electronics and exhibition fields from such countries as
Germany, Japan, China and Taiwan.
Second, the show is ¡ºspecialized IT business exhibition with
high-level overseas recognition¡». Held in linkage with other
major Asian electronic fairs of Japan (CEATEC), Taiwan
(Taitronics) and Hong Kong (HKEF), KES is expected to draw
about 6,000 buyers from overseas. In a related move, there
will be an export meeting involving the invited foreign
buyers during the exhibition period.
Third, the show is an ¡ºexhibition for experiencing future
technologies¡». The visitors will be able to experience
various kinds of future technologies related to the
electronics industry, at special exhibition booths,
including those for demonstrating home network technologies,
environment-friendly technologies, newly developed excellent
electronics parts and excellent IT designs.
Fourth, the show is a ¡ºdigital information exchange fair¡».
To promote the exchange of information, exhibition
organizers have prepared a number of special events,
including international seminars on such topics as the
progress of digital technology, the future of the IT
industry and digital convergence technology. Speakers will
include prominent figures in related areas, including Hwang
Chang-gyu, president of Samsung Electronics. There will also
be new product launching sessions during the exhibition.
Fifth, the show is ¡ºKorea's leading brand exhibition¡»with 37
years of history. Designated by the Korean government as a
Korean brand exhibition for six consecutive years, the show
is enjoying a high level of recognition abroad.
The major exhibits of KES 2006 include most advanced items
in the areas of digital multimedia, digital information,

The show will be held for five days from October 17 (Tue) to
October 21 (Sat). Three days from the 17th through the 19th
are designated as business days, while the 20th and 21st as
public days. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the convenience of visitors, the organizers will operate
a shuttle bus service that runs from the exhibition venue to
Seoul and major metropolitan areas. There will be lotteries
through which free gifts such as LCD-TVs, drum washing
machines, laptop computers and MP3s will be presented to
general visitors.
