PyeongChang, Aug 23 2006 (Korea
Newswire)-- The president of the Korean Sports Council Jung-gil
KIM challenged 13 sports associations in the country to join
the government in supporting the PyeongChang 2014 Winter
Olympic bid.
A gathering of such magnitude among Korean sports bodies is
a rare occasion. The August 22 meeting in Seoul marked the
first coming-together in one place, since 1980, of so many
professional and amateur Korean sports bodies, including
South Korea¡¯s World Cup Association. The groups in
attendance included sports associations, sports academies
and sports promotion bodies.
At the meeting, PyeongChang 2014 Bid Chairman Han Seung-soo
said such strong participation means that Korea¡¯s sports
community has a strong desire to help Korea to host the 2014
Winter Olympics at PyeongChang. At Tuesday¡¯s meeting, the
dialogue centered on ways to support PyeongChang 2014,
including fundraising and networking roles.
HAN Seung-soo, chairman of PyeongChang 2014 said, ¡°It is
very meaningful to be together in one place with
professional and amateur sports associations, but it is all
the more impressive that your people are ready to support
and join hands with us to host the Winter Olympics.¡±
